The pair have been embroiled in a messy, public legal battle stemming from a series of domestic violence investigations in March

A judge has granted Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen an custody arrangement for their 2-year-old son Ever.

At a hearing on Monday, June 1, a judge lifted mandatory supervision for Paul's parent time with Ever. The judge also issued Paul custody of Ever on the same midweek day each week without overnights as well as alternating weekends. The judge said that Mortensen will remain the "custodial parent" on holidays.

The judge also banned the former couple from "making disparaging remarks of one another" in public, including on social media.

The hearing follows a contentious, high-profile legal battle between the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star, 31, and her ex-boyfriend, 33, which began in February with a pair of investigations by Utah police departments into allegations each made that the other acted violently during altercations that month.

As the investigations were ongoing, Mortensen filed for a protective order against Paul, and she filed for a protective order of her own several weeks later. The orders were mutually granted for three years at the pair’s latest court appearance on April 30.

Several weeks before the April 30 hearing, the judge granted Mortensen custody of Ever with up to eight hours per week of visitation for Paul supervised by a paid supervisor or someone vetted by the guardian ad litem. At the hearing on April 30, the judge kept the custody arrangement in place.

Over the past two months, Paul has accused Mortensen in court of stalking and, on one occasion, slamming her head into the dashboard of his truck. Mortensen has submitted photographs of scratches and other physical injuries he allegedly received during altercations with Paul.

Paul was previously arrested in 2023 for an alleged domestic violence incident with Mortensen, where she was accused of throwing metal chairs at him while her then-5-year-old daughter, Indy, was in the room. Paul pleaded guilty in abeyance to aggravated assault and the other charges were dropped.

Though the arrest took place more than three years ago, the case garnered new scrutiny in March when TMZ published a video of the altercation, showing Paul yelling, placing Mortensen in a headlock and throwing chairs at him while a child could be heard crying.

Hours after the video’s release, ABC called off Paul’s already-filmed season of The Bachelorette days before its slated premiere, though network executives have since indicated that the season may air at some future point.

Amid Paul and Mortensen's ongoing legal battle, the fifth season of Mormon Wives temporarily halted production in March. Several cast members refused to work with Paul, sources told PEOPLE at the time. In April, PEOPLE confirmed that production was set to resume for the Hulu reality series, though in May, a source told PEOPLE that only new confessionals were being filmed for the forthcoming season.

Paul and Mortensen's next custody hearing is set for July 8.
