Pentatonix's Scott Hoying is preparing to welcome his first baby via a surrogate with husband Mark Hoying.
Speaking with PEOPLE in an exclusive interview at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards in Los Angeles on March 26, Scott and Mark, both 34, revealed what they hope their soon-to-be baby girl is interested in.
"I feel like whatever she wants to do," Scott explained. "We're going to become obsessive stage parents. If it's like golf."
"She's a hockey player," Mark added.
Scott then said their daughter also has to “love Wicked.“ Mark added, "Yes. And Ariana Grande. Two things she has to."
"And Gaga," Scott continued.

Aside from naming off pop stars, they said they’ve also been ruminating about what to name their daughter once she’s born.
“One of the biggest things we're thinking of right now is what to name our daughter because we have a list of probably 20 names.” Mark said. “We don't know if we have the one yet.”Scott added, “We have our safer names and our riskier names.”

Scott and Mark first met at a birthday party in 2017. They "started hanging every single day," the singer previously recalled to PEOPLE in 2023.
"I remember being blown away at how warm, wholesome and sweet Mark was," he said at the time. "It was such a refreshing energy that I couldn’t get enough of."

The two got married on July 7, 2023, in an intimate ceremony in Santa Barbara, Calif. They told PEOPLE they loved that their "favorite, romantic, lifelong memories together are by the beach." Christina Perri was their officiant, and Scott performed an original song for Mark at the wedding.
"The song is one of my favorite songs I have ever written, as it is a love letter I dedicated to Mark after we had dated for four years, and I can barely sing it without crying," he said.

"I feel like all of our life experiences and choices, and ups and downs, have led us to each other and this is the moment where the people we love most get to see us truly make the leap," Scott continued. "I knew pretty early on that Mark was my dream man and I genuinely feel like the luckiest man on earth to get to marry him."
Mark, who graduated from the University of Washington in 2013, has collaborated with Scott on a few projects, including co-writing Pentatonix's “Thank You”and working on two children's books, 2024’s How Lucky Am I? and 2025’s Fa La La Family.
At the 2025 Kids' Choice Awards, Mark revealed to PEOPLE that they took the next step in their journey to be parents, and selected a surrogate. "We finally have a surrogate, so we're closer," he shared. "But next summer, we'll have a baby for sure."
"We used an agency. And we wanted to have our surrogate in L.A., because we want to go to every single appointment," Scott added. "And so the wait list was a lot longer for L.A. But it was worth it. We found something. She's amazing."
In October 2025, Scott and Mark announced on Instagram that they were officially expecting their first baby. "We’re having a baby 🥹🤍," Scott captioned the video of their reaction to the exciting news.
They also surprised Scott's Dancing with the Stars partner Rylee Arnold with the news that they were expecting during a practice for season 34 of the show.
"I'm so excited to raise a family with him," Scott said. "I just feel like we're really, really lucky."
On the Oct. 14 episode, Scott dedicated his week's dance to Mark. “I want to dedicate it to my husband Mark, because I feel like he’s just changed my life in so many ways,” he told Extra TV.
“I’m so in love and we just celebrated our two-year wedding anniversary. I’ve written so many songs about him and so I really just wanted to dance to a song and have him there," he added.
