Rick Springfield and Sammy Hagar are teaming up for an eight-show summer tour starting June 13 in St. Louis

The rockers have been friends for over 50 years and credit music and staying active for feeling young

The duo also collaborated on Sammy's Beach Bar Rum, which Hagar jokes Springfield rebrands as his own

Rockers Rick Springfield and Sammy Hagar may be approaching 80, but they're doing it their way — by rocking and rolling, and now, going out on tour together.

The 'Jessie's Girl' singer, 76, will be joining the former Van Halen frontman, 78, on his "Best of All Worlds" summer tour for eight shows in June, and the duo say they can't wait to hang out for the month. They also say they can't believe they've known each other for over 50 years.

"We're as old as old people!" Springfield says with a laugh, on how long they've known each other. The two first met when Springfield sang the hit 'I've Done Everything for You,' which was written by Hagar, in the early '80s.

Hagar says that even though they're in their 70s, they're still young at heart.

"I think Rick occasionally acts like an adult," he says. "Not an old person, but every now and then he acts like an adult. But I rarely do! It's funny, to think of my grandpa and how he was at 60... the world has changed, but I don't even think about age."

"Music keeps you young anyway," adds Springfield, who also says he works out every day. "And rock music definitely keeps you young."

Hagar says being a beach bum at heart also helps keep him from feeling old.

"I'm a beach nut. Man, you can't keep me off the beach. No shoes, no shirt, no problem, all that," he says of being in nothing but swim trunks when he's not working. "My wife will say, 'Honey, please put on a t-shirt, we have people coming over.' I'm like fine I'll try. I call swim trunks my uniform."

Speaking of beach bums, the two are more than just partners in music — they're also spirits partners in Beach Bar Rum.

"It's called Sammy's Beach Bar Rum, but Rick calls it Ricky's Beach Bar Rum," Hagar jokes. "He scratches my name off of t-shirts and stuff and puts his name on there. Can you imagine having a partner like that?"

The question is, are they still imbibing in the rum drinks together?

Hagar says when he's in the studio he does.

"Sometimes I go to bed at 8 p.m., and sometimes I stay up late when I'm working in the studio. I mean, that's what I love to do and alcohol comes into play and that's a very natural thing — music and alcohol and rock and roll, it's always been a good time."

He adds, "But I don't get drunk anymore. No hangovers. I'm smarter than that now. I learned that in my 50s!"

Rick Springfield will first join Sammy Hagar's "Best of All Worlds" tour on June 13 in St. Louis, Mo.
