"My music baby turned 20": Fergie celebrates anniversary of 'The Dutchess' with a heartfelt tribute

Fergie is celebrating a major milestone for the album that launched her solo career.
The singer marked the 20th anniversary of The Dutchess with a heartfelt message reflecting on what the record meant to her. She shared that releasing a solo album had been a dream since childhood, though she never expected the project to reach the level of success it eventually achieved.
“My music baby turned 20 today. Wow. It was my dream since I was a little girl to have a solo album.”
The singer mentioned that The Dutchess provided her with the chance to express herself in ways that she never thought of before. The album also enabled her to showcase different sides of her personality and identity as a solo artist.
“Little did I know the Dutchess would go beyond all of my wildest dreams, letting me express myself in ways I never thought possible and allowing me to explore different faces of who I am.”
As she looked back on the era, Fergie paid tribute to the period by wearing her hair in a style inspired by the time surrounding the album's release.
Fergie referred to the era as a very special whirlwind where her dreams became reality.

“I’ve been reflecting on this era and wearing my hair as tribute to the special whirlwind moment in time where I got to live out all of my dreams come true.”

Fergie also acknowledged the people who made the album possible, as well as those who continue to celebrate its music and keep memories from the era alive.

The former Black Eyed Peas member concluded her tribute with a message to her “music baby.”
“Happy 20th Anniversary, The Dutchess.”
Released in 2006, The Dutchess became a defining chapter in Fergie's career following her success as a member of the Black Eyed Peas. The album created many hit songs and established her as a solo artist.
It contains some of the singer’s most notable solo tracks: Fergalicious (feat. will.i.am), Clumsy, London Bridge, Glamorous (feat. Ludacris), and Big Girls Don't Cry (Personal), among others.

For Fergie, the anniversary is also a chance to look back at the young girl who dreamed of making her own album and the artist who eventually got to make that dream a reality.
