Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have returned to the United Kingdom and are already working on their next project. The Duke is reportedly planning to release a film about his late mother, Princess Diana, ahead of her 30th death anniversary in 2027, honoring her with a special tribute.
A source tells Woman’s Day that Prince William is reportedly growing frustrated with his brother’s passion project. And to make it worse, the addition of the Suits star has added to his trouble, as the Spencers have given the green light to the Sussexes.
Source Says Prince William Dislikes the Documentary Over Diana-Meghan Comparison
According to an exclusive report from Woman’s Day, a source told the outlet that Prince William is not thrilled about Prince Harry making a film for their late mother, Princess Diana. They said that he is rather “horrified” by his estranged brother’s project.
They continued that one of the reasons the Prince of Wales is against the documentary is that he does not want Meghan Markle to be compared with Princess Diana. “He can’t stand the narrative that Meghan is somehow this Diana 2.0, so hearing that she and Harry are hijacking this tribute to his late mother, and on UK soil, no less, has sent him around the bend,” the source said.
The royal insider continued that, according to William, only his wife, Kate Middleton, is like Diana. They mentioned that the Prince of Wales thinks she is as devoted as his mother “but in a much less showy way.” They added, “To William only proves his point, since Diana was never interested in the spotlight.”
The comments stem from gossip columnist Rob Shuter, who wrote on his Substack that Prince Harry is planning a TV movie for his mother. He mentioned that this was another reason the couple decided to return to the United Kingdom, and Markle is set to play an important role in the film.
He mentioned that the Duchess’ “tremendous acting experience” would make her a top choice to be a narrator in the project. An insider told Shuter, “Meghan isn’t getting a cameo — she’s becoming the voice of Diana’s story. That makes her a central figure in the film. Harry may be the son, but Meghan will be the voice viewers hear.”

The report mentioned that the Sussexes are “shaping” the tribute together because they realize that there are “powerful parallels,” referring to Princess Diana’s conflict with the royals and the media.
The insider pointed out, “Meghan’s narration makes that perspective impossible to separate from the film.” Another source remarked, “Harry making his own film is one thing. Meghan becoming the narrator of their mother’s story is something else entirely. That will be extremely difficult for William.”
Expert Claims Prince William Wants Diana’s ‘Legacy for Himself’
In another report from the Daily Mail’sPalace Confidential podcast, Richard Kay, the Daily Mail’s Senior Editor-at-Large, talked about Princess Diana’s legacy. He shared that Prince Harry is already reaching out to his mother’s friends and other people, asking them to contribute to the project.
“Of course, it throws up that old canard. People always link Harry to Diana, but she was the mother of two boys,” he added. “William is just as much his mother’s son as Harry is, and Harry has tried to claim the Diana legacy for himself, to William’s intense frustration.”
Kay noted that because of the film, Harry would not be spending ample time with his father, King Charles III; rather, it would be with the Spencer family.
