Prince Harry and Meghan Markle relocated to the U.K. with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, on Aug. 26, 2026, nearly seven years after their departure from the royal family in 2020. However, this has only made the prolonged conflict between the Sussexes and Prince William murkier. If royal fans are wondering whether William is keen to share a relationship with Archie and Lilibet, several royal enthusiasts believe that he should not attempt to reach out to his nephew and niece, unlike his father, King Charles, who is keen to remain close to his grandchildren.

Archie and Lilibet are reportedly gearing up to begin their new school following their relocation to the U.K. along with their parents. The young royals have been largely brought up in California. While Archie, seven, was born in the U.K. in 2019, he relocated to California with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following their departure from the Royal family.

William Expected To Maintain Distance From Archie and Lilibet

Princess Lilibet was born in 2021 in California and had only visited Britain twice before her parents moved back to the country. Unlike King Charles, who is reportedly looking forward to spending more time with them, their uncle Prince William is expected to maintain less contact with his nephew and niece amid his ongoing rift with their parents.

According to a Daily Express survey of royal enthusiasts, the majority of them felt that the future King should not attempt to build a relationship with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Despite being a dutiful father to three children, around 2,485 out of 2,880 respondents who participated in the survey between 9 a.m. on Sept. 6, 2026 and 2:15 p.m. on Sept. 9, 2026 felt that William should maintain distance from Archie and Lilibet.

However, around 290 respondents from the overall participants felt that the Prince of Wales should attempt to build a healthy relationship with his nephew and niece irrespective of his rift with their parents.

A Commentator Lashes Out At The Sussexes In The Survey

Meanwhile, 105 people felt that they were confused as to what Prince William should do with regards to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children. One commentator felt that he should prioritize protecting his wife Kate Middleton and children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Another commentator chimed in that the Duke of Wales should “steer clear” of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet because trying to build a relationship with them would mean to “be in contact” with Harry and Meghan.

One of the participants took a sharp dig at the Sussexes and said, “Why should he. The Sussexes have levied insults at both him and Catherine and William has maintained his cool approach not responding.”

According to the reports, Prince William might be in no mood to reconcile with his younger brother and his family anytime soon. Speculations suggest that he might also miss any Royal event or gathering if the Sussexes are invited. William and Harry’s relationship has been irreparably damaged ever since the latter disassociated himself from the Royal institution. The Duke of Sussex’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, along with his wife, and his 2023 tell-all memoir Spare further intensified the conflict between the brothers.
