Prince Harry's longtime friends in the UK believed he was "nuts" for pursuing a relationship with Meghan Markle when they first got together, a book has claimed.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex began their romance around 2016. The pair became engaged a year later and married in 2018.
It comes as royal commentator Dickie Arbiter claimed that Harry and Meghan may be poised to leave Britain, merely two weeks after returning to the prince's native country.

Tom Bower's book, Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War between the Windsors, published in 2022, examined the reported friction between Harry's old school friends and his future wife.
In an excerpt originally serialized by The Sunday Times, the Duchess of Sussex accompanied her boyfriend on an extended weekend at Sandringham with 16 of his close companions before their relationship went public in 2017.

Harry's friends, who were predominantly from his time at Eton College according to the author, participated in shooting activities.
Mr Bower stated, "Like other shooting weekends, Harry was looking forward to endless banter, jokes, and a lot of drinking. Their jokes involving sexism, feminism and transgender people ricocheted around the living rooms and dining rooms."

The author continued, "Without hesitation, Meghan challenged every guest whose conversation contravened her values.
"According to some of Harry's friends, again and again she reprimanded them about the slightest inappropriate nuance. Nobody was exempt."

Mr Bower alleged Meghan's approach did not win over Harry's friends. He wrote, "Meghan was a dampener on the party, they concluded. She lacked any sense of humor.
"Driving home after Sunday lunch, the texts pinged between the cars: 'OMG what about HER?' said one; 'Harry must be f------ nuts.'"
In a separate passage from the book, Mr Bower alleged that attendees at Thomas Inskip's wedding in Jamaica in November 2017 were equally unimpressed with the Duchess of Sussex.
He stated, "Their suspicion of Meghan increased; the sentiment was mutual. Meghan disliked Inskip and his crowd.
"Their jokes and their attitude towards the world seemed unacceptable to her."
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not commented on these claims.
