Prince Harry has reportedly blamed King Charles’ letter for the recent Invictus Games setback. Uganda has withdrawn its participation from the upcoming movement, announcing its decision on social media. According to a source, the Duke of Sussex has allegedly believed that the Ugandan government’s move was “directly linked” to the palace’s letter. In it, the Firm clarified that Harry and Meghan Markle would remain non-working royals and “private citizens.”

Prince Harry might think King Charles’ letter led to Uganda’s withdrawal from the Invictus Games. On X, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, son of Uganda’s president, posted about the government’s decision. He said they would not go against the monarch’s approval and would therefore not participate in the upcoming event.

The tweet read, “In order not to be construed as being opposed to His Majesty King Charles III of the United Kingdom, whom we deeply revere, Uganda hereby withdraws from the Invictus Games. We shall not participate in anything that does not have His Majesty’s approval.”

For those unversed, Uganda recently joined the Invictus Games. Harry had personally welcomed their defense forces delegation in July. Therefore, the recent tweet has reportedly led the Duke to blame his father’s letter for the withdrawal.

Meanwhile, a source told ITV News that the palace might not have intended the outcome. “Intended or unintended, this is clearly a consequence of the Lord Chamberlain’s guidance regarding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, that was rushed out without consultation on Monday,” they said.

The outlet also reached out to Ugandan government spokesperson Alan Kasujja. He claimed that the general’s decision is taken as the “higher authority in the military besides the president.” Moreover, the reason for the move remains unknown.

Earlier, the senior courtier in the royal household, the Lord Chamberlain, sent a letter after the Sussexes’ UK return. It stated that Harry and Meghan Markle would be “private citizens,” hinting that their activities would not be linked to the royals.
