Prince Harry’s U.K. return comes with a planned film about his late mother, Princess Diana, ahead of her 30th death anniversary in 2027. According to the Palace Confidential, the Duke of Sussex has been meeting his late mother’s friend for a passion project that would help him pay a special tribute to her.

Additionally, this has also amplified criticism about using recording equipment during his visit to Prince Diana’s grave in the Althorp Estate earlier this year.

Prince Harry Planning a Special Film for Mom Diana

According to Daily Mail’sPalace Confidentialpodcast, Senior Editor-at-Large Richard Kay said Harry is getting in touch with Princess Diana’s friends to convince them to be a part of the new documentary.

He shared, “Diana has dominated the thinking of both William and Harry for the last ten years.” He continued that one of his sources has told him that the Duke’s return to his home country is to make his own “television film” about his late mother.

As a result, he has been reaching out to his mother’s old friends and other people who knew her, asking them to make contributions to his passion project. Kay added, “That’s going to occupy a lot of his headspace over the next 12 months.”

“Of course, it throws up that old canard. People always link Harry to Diana, but she was the mother of two boys,” he remarked. “William is just as much his mother’s son as Harry is, and Harry has tried to claim the Diana legacy for himself, to William’s intense frustration.”

“…This issue of trying to use Diana, the Spencer brand, the Spencer name, to divide himself away from the House of Windsor, I think is something we’re going to see even more of.” He noted that the public would continue to see even more of it, recalling the time whenHarry visited Diana’s grave at Althorp estate.

In a separate report from Radar, Prince Harry had taken his two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to Prince Diana’s grave. The site is located on a secluded island in the property’s Round Oval Lake, managed by her brother, Charles Spencer.

The site is closed to visitors to protect family members’ privacy during their visits, but insiders claim that they allegedly saw recording equipment during his visit. A source noted that there was “clear awareness” that the elements of his visit were aimed at a future “Netflix documentary,” unsettling the Royal Family members.

Meghan Markle to Be Voice of Diana’s Story?

The gossip columnist, Rob Shuter, shared on hisSubstackthat Markle has been selected for a crucial role in the film.

The report noted that she would be the narrator of the special film, because of her ‘tremendous acting experience.’ A production insider noted, “Meghan isn’t getting a cameo — she’s becoming the voice of Diana’s story. That makes her a central figure in the film. Harry may be the son, but Meghan will be the voice viewers hear.”

Shuter remarked that both Harry and Markle are “shaping” the passion project together because they believe that there are “powerful parallels,” referring to Diana’s dispute with the royal palace and the press.

“Meghan’s narration makes that perspective impossible to separate from the film,” the source said. Another royal source noted that Prince William believes that Princess Diana’s legacy belongs to him. They continued, “Harry making his own film is one thing. Meghan becoming the narrator of their mother’s story is something else entirely. That will be extremely difficult for William.”
