Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's primary security worry following their return to the UK last month centers on the school run, according to reports.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who relocated to the UK last month, are preparing to transport Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, to and from school on a daily basis. While this is a routine task for parents worldwide, there are concerns that this straightforward daily activity could pose security challenges for the family. This stems from the fact that despite now residing in the UK, the family remains in limbo awaiting Home Office confirmation on whether they'll be granted taxpayer-funded police protection on a permanent basis.

It's understood that an assessment has been ongoing since Prince Harry returned to Britain with Meghan and his kids in late August, though no decision has been announced. This comes as it was revealed that William and Kate feel a 'deep sense of betrayal' from Harry and Meghan amid UK move.

The matter is likely causing anxiety for the couple, who have been keeping a low profile since leaving Montecito, California, for an undisclosed location in the UK.

The school the children will attend, along with the location of the family's rental property, has been kept confidential for security reasons. It's thought to be situated outside of London.

A friend of the Sussex family told The Telegraph about the school run, "It is absolutely the biggest area of concern. It creates the most danger."

Scott Hamer, who served in the Metropolitan Police's royalty and specialist protection unit for 14 years until 2022, indicated the school run could also pose a risk. He explained to The Telegraph, "The whole point of protection is to keep the diary as tight as possible, to ensure people who might want to do bad things do not have the opportunity to do so.

"With the school run, you can vary the route as much as you like but the start and end point will almost always be the same. It's really, really difficult."

The school Archie and Lilibet are expected to attend is believed to take the new students' safety very seriously.

Reports indicate that numerous policies and procedures have been implemented, and that staff members have received specialized training.

The family arrived from California via private jet, touching down at Birmingham Airport last week. They subsequently traveled by car to their new UK home, reportedly a privately rented property.

This marks the family's first UK residency since 2020, with Harry and Meghan relocating to America six years ago after stepping back from royal duties. Their relocation to the UK won't alter their status as non-working royals.

Although reports suggest the move back to Britain may not be permanent, sources indicate the family intends to remain in Harry's homeland for a considerable period.

While Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet's school remains undisclosed, it has been revealed that the priority is "a nurturing atmosphere" and an "outdoorsy and sporting ethos" that mirrors Harry's own years at Ludgrove prep school.

Both Harry and William attended Eton College. The Duke of Sussex described his time there as a "profound shock" and an isolating time when he felt "completely overwhelmed," joining one year after his mother's death.

Moreover, he claimed William shunned him. Harry wrote in his memoir, Spare, "Willy told me to pretend I didn't know him. For the last two years, he explained, Eton had been his sanctuary... He was forging his own life, and he wasn't willing to give that up."
