Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been repeatedly plagued by rumors of financial woes in recent years, especially following the rumors of them losing their $100 million Netflix deal last year. The couple made the drastic decision to move back to the U.K. with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, which may further intensify scrutiny of their finances.
However, recent reports suggest the duo wouldn’t cut down on their lavish expenses to uphold their plush lifestyle and land lucrative professional opportunities and public engagements.
The financial crunch rumors were fueled due to multiple reasons, including Harry losing his high-profile privacy lawsuit against Associated Newspapers in July 2026. It was believed that Meghan’s lifestyle brand, As Ever, was failing to yield adequate profits.

Despite the crisis, there has been no change in Harry and Meghan’s extravagant lifestyle.
Additionally, the pair made a strong statement by flying back to the United Kingdom on a luxurious private plane, indicating that they have no intention of cutting back on their spending.
An insider close to the development revealed to Closer that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, especially the latter, are confident about their financial position and do not feel the need to cut down on their expenses.
The source said, “Harry insists they still have money in the bank.” According to the reports, the Sussexes feel the need to maintain their lavish lifestyle to garner lucrative professional opportunities which might solidify their social status in the U.K.
The Sussexes Elated With Their ‘Five-Star Lifestyle’
The insider added that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex consider themselves fortunate that they are able to maintain what they call a “very five-star lifestyle” despite several rumors surrounding their income.

The sources have also hinted that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle do not just wish to enjoy a lavish lifestyle but also aim to land meaty career opportunities by creating a strong impact through their status.
The insider said, “Of course, image and perception are everything, particularly when they’re trying to land A-list jobs.” The couple reportedly believe that appearing to be confident, financially secure, and individuals with an affluent background might help them land more professional opportunities.
This might be the primary reason behind the Sussexes not cutting down on their lavish expenses. This latest development also comes following King Charles’ letter that was revealed on Sep. 7, 2026, where the monarch clarified that Harry and Meghan will not be retaining their Royal titles and roles but will instead remain as “private citizens” in the U.K.
However, the couple’s representative revealed to the BBC that the Sussexes “were a little surprised not to have been told about this in advance.” Reportedly, they were taken aback by the “lack of time given to them to respond.”
Following this, Prince Harry has now revealed some of his first charity-based public engagements, which include the Invictus Spirit Awards and the annual WellChild awards. The couple’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are also gearing up to attend their new school in the U.K. and thereby adjust to a new life.
