Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reportedly compelled to come back to the UK. For those unversed, the Sussexes flew privately from California and landed in Birmingham on August 26. This move comes six years after the couple first relocated to the U.S. in January 2020 and declared that they were stepping down from their duties as working royals. Now, royal expert Russell Myers has predicted that there is a specific reason for their return to the royal palace.
Expert says Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wanted another chance
Speaking to The Mirror, royal correspondent Russell Myers suggested that financial opportunities could be a major reason behind Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to spend more time in the UK. While acknowledging that there could be several factors behind the move, Myers argued that the couple may be looking to improve their commercial prospects.
The Sussexes’ commercial ventures have faced setbacks in recent years. Their partnership with Spotify ended in 2023. Their relationship with Netflix has continued through Archewell Productions. However, the nature and scope of their projects have evolved. These developments have fueled continued speculation about the couple’s next career moves.
Ever since Harry and Meghan landed in the UK, there have been numerous rumors about their work engagements and collaborations. Previously, various reports indicated that the Duchess of Sussex was in talks to join Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen Season 3.

However, as per a report by Page Six Hollywood, the Suits star was never presented with a binding offer. As per the outlet, Markle’s team had an informal discussion with the casting director. It was misinterpreted as a formal offer. The source explained: “She took it as an offer. And it wasn’t. And [she and Prince Harry] thought it would be helpful in the moment for there to be a reason for their move.”
There has also been speculation about Harry and Meghan pursuing more projects in the UK while maintaining their charitable work. Separately, Rob Shuter has claimed that Harry is interested in developing a television film about his late mother, Princess Diana, with Meghan reportedly attached as narrator. Those claims have not been independently confirmed.
The Sussexes arrived in Birmingham from California on August 26 and have since established a private base in the UK while retaining their Montecito home. Their children have also started the new school year in Britain.
