Prince Harry and Meghan Markle returned to the UK in August for what was expected to be an extended stay. Days after their arrival, King Charles issued a letter clarifying their status, stating that the Sussexes would be treated as private citizens and non-working royals during their time in Britain. While the letter reportedly caught the couple off guard, a source said they are now focused on helping their children settle in.

According to PEOPLE, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have shifted their focus to their children following King Charles‘ letter. Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are beginning school in the UK following their return, with a source close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex telling the outlet that settling their children “has been, and remains, their focus.”

The source continued, “Everything else will fall into place when the time is right.” The source added, “There is a lot to do. They have just moved halfway across the world, and it’s been really busy getting the kids settled.” Harry and Markle’s “focus has been on that, and will remain on that, for the time being.” The source also noted, “They are happy to be back.”

The Sussexes’ UK return marks the first time their children will attend school in Britain after the family moved to the US in 2020. Archie and Lilibet’s schooling was reportedly one of the major factors behind their parents’ decision to relocate to England.

“Step by step, they want to be in the U.K,” a source close to Harry previously told PEOPLE. The source added, “They want to have the time and give the kids the opportunity to be here.” The decision to return was something the Duke had been “thinking about for a while.”

A source close to Harry and Markle explained, “Harry never really stopped missing home. He’s missed that sense of connection and belonging. Britain is still home in many way.” However, another source said the decision was “taken as a family.”
