Journalist Piers Morgan has claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are building a “rival Royal Family” in the UK. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are now back in Britain after living for nearly six years in California.

In 2020, they left the royal world due to intense media scrutiny and a lack of support from the institution, which Harry alleged in his memoir, “Spare.” Now that they are back, reports suggest that they could return to doing tours and public appearances in the UK.

Piers Morgan recently shared his views on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to the UK. Speaking on “The Royals Uncensored,” he claimed that the couple’s return to Britain means that they would have a “rival royal family now in this country.”

Morgan shared his view that Harry went to California after “ditching” his country because “he wanted to find peace and happiness.” However, building independent ventures away from the royal fold hasn’t worked for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, according to him.

The broadcaster also suggested that their “bubble” has burst for the couple. Jo Elvin, one of the panelists, then noted that she gets “hammered in the comments” the moment she says they are not “really royals.”

Morgan further added that he believes Meghan and Harry have realized that they can either be with the royals or with the “renegades.” He further pointed out that their surprise over the King’s letter stating that they are not “working royals” but “private citizens” was ironic.

Morgan added, “The most troubling part of all this is that you’re going to have a rival Royal Family right in this country.” He remarked that when the Sussexes were “thousands of miles away” in California, speaking about the issues they faced within the royal world was “tolerably irritating.”

However, now that they are on the doorstep, he believes the situation could become more complicated. This is because they would continue to carry out tours and appearances while being “private citizens” rather than members of the Royal Family.
