**This article contains spoilers from the *Paradise* season 2 finale, "Exodus."**
At the end of *Paradise*'s second season, Sinatra (Julianne Nicholson) sacrificed herself to save everyone in the bunker. She also clued Xavier (Sterling K. Brown) in on the fact that there's a quantum computer named Al3x in a separate bunker that might just help him save the world.
But the question is: Does that act of heroism redeem her? "I delight in [creator Dan] Fogelman's desire to bring complexity and empathy to all characters," Sterling K. Brown tells **. "I saw him do it on *This Is Us* and now I'm seeing him do it with *Paradise*. He doesn't want any human being to be written off or dismissed as purely one thing."

Julianne Nicholson as Sinatra and Sterling K. Brown as Xavier on 'Paradise'.
Brown wasn't quite sure if Fogelman could pull off a redemption arc for Sinatra after what occurred in the first season. "This is interesting because I was like, 'I don't know if you're gonna be able to redeem Sinatra, because I almost put a cap square in her dome at the end of season 1. Now you want me to feel for this chick?' And I'll say, he did it. We sort of peel back the layers of the onion of the motivations of this woman, and it not just being about power, but about family, her connection to her son, a desire to put the world back. And the fact that she was willing to sacrifice herself for the greater good."
Will the audience agree? "We'll see," Brown says with a laugh, adding, "This is sort of like Miguel on *This Is Us*. People are like, 'Nah. No to Miguel.' But some people at the end were like, 'Yeah, okay.' I'm curious to see how our audience feels about the sacrifice that Sinatra makes."**

As for what awaits in season 3, which will likely be the end of what Fogelman has always pitched as a three-season show, Brown says, "We're moving toward an end point, and I think the audience feels that momentum. He could do something absolutely bonkers with season 3, and at this point, I'm like, 'Yeah, I'm in.'"
