Wiley and Morelli began their relationship after meeting on the set of *OITNB*, on which Wiley played fan-favorite character Poussey Washington, while Morelli served as a writer and producer across the show's seven-season run on the streaming platform.**

Four years after getting married in March 2017, the former couple welcomed a daughter, George Elizabeth, in April 2021.

Wiley and Morelli maintained in a joint statement that "our lifelong commitment to co-parenting will forever remain" despite filing Friday for divorce, per *Out*.

The pair first announced their engagement in 2016, with Wiley sharing a photo of herself wearing an engagement ring as Morelli smiled beside her.

In October 2017, Wiley told PEOPLE that getting married taught her "that it's not just about you anymore, but about you and your partner as a unit."

She also elaborated on her dynamic with Morelli, joking to the publication, "Lauren is a very organized person that likes to leave on time, whatever that means. She likes to have all her ducks in a row, and I don’t know where half my ducks are!"**

Wiley similarly shared with fans the spouses' experience with motherhood, as she celebrated George in a social media post detailing their journey toward becoming parents.

"Two years ago this week we humbly asked the universe," Wiley wrote in the post's caption, which showed her standing with Morelli, who held up a small card bearing text that read, "May our family expand, our bond strengthen, our happiness multiply, our faith lead us, and our love remain."

In addition to her work on *Orange Is the New Black*, Wiley went on to win an Emmy for her performance in Hulu's *The Handmaid's Tale*, opposite Elisabeth Moss.

Morelli again partnered with Netflix to create and produce *Tales of the City* in 2019, a miniseries adapted from Armistead Maupin's novels.
