Mel B revealed in a new interview that when she and husband Rory McPhee first got together, she told him, "I'm not your girlfriend, I'm never getting married again"
"So if I were you, I would look somewhere else — but we could have fun," she added
The Spice Girls star and the celebrity hairstylist did, in fact, marry — saying "I do" in London in July 2025 and then again just weeks later in Morocco
Melanie "Mel B" Brown says a future wedding was far from her mind when she got together with her now-husband, Rory McPhee.
The Spice Girls star, 50, opened up about the beginnings of her romantic relationship with the celebrity hairstylist, 37, in a new interview with The Times. She revealed that she made some firm declarations to McPhee when they "got together."
"I said, ‘I’m not your girlfriend. I’m never getting married again and I’m never going to have kids. So if I were you, I would look somewhere else — but we could have fun,' " recalled the America's Got Talent judge, who was previously wed to Jimmy Gulzar from 1998 to 2000 and Stephen Belafonte from 2007 to 2017.
Reflecting on how her and McPhee's relationship began, Mel B shared that she had known him all her life and long before she became a Spice Girl. "He’s a family friend," she said.

It wasn't until 2018 that she began to see him in a more romantic light — and when her family learned the news, they were surprised, she said.
“All my aunties and uncles were like, 'Quiet, safe Rory?!’ " Mel B recalled to The Times, mimicking an incredulous tone.

Explaining their connection, Mel B continued, "He keeps to himself. But he’s a very sweet guy, he’s from the same village I’m from, we’ve got the same humour, the same accent."
The singer compared the pair's relationship to her close friend Heidi Klum's marriage with Tom Kaulitz.

"Heidi told me, ‘I’m getting married again’, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, what?’ But she met a guy from her village, they speak the same German [dialect]. I get it, it works," Mel B explained.
Despite shutting down the subject of marriage, McPhee remained undeterred. He visited Mel B's late father Martin Brown's grave and asked for his daughter's hand in marriage.
“I went, ‘Did he respond?’ ” Mel B remembered asking McPhee. “Rory said, ‘No, but I felt like he was accepting.' "
McPhee proposed during a "romantic" getaway in Berkshire, England, in 2022.

In a 2024 interview with PEOPLE, the Spice Girls star opened up more about how she came around to the idea of marrying again, explaining that her stance changed as McPhee became “more and more important" in her life and helped her realize “that there are good people out there.”
“I believe in love, and clearly the other two marriages turned out to be not love, from their angle,” she said. “So I feel like I've really missed out, and now I've got this opportunity to be properly in love with a really good guy who I know loves me for me, who's known me before I was a Spice Girl, why wouldn't I do that?”
Mel B and McPhee tied the knot in a ceremony at St. Paul's Cathedral in London on July 5, 2025, with a number of celebrity guests in attendance, including Emma Bunton, Cara Delevingne, Katherine Ryan and Daisy Lowe. They said "I do" for a second time in Morocco just weeks later.
The couple shared a photo from the Morocco nuptials in a joint Instagram post on Aug. 3, writing, "We got married!!! Again! A wedding so good we keep the celebration going with our closest and dearest in our fav place at @selmanmarrakech ❤️❤️❤️ we had the time of our lives!!"
