Heidi Klum’s viral nude dress at the 2026 Grammys took inspiration from a special someone: herself. **

The *Project Runway* host and reigning Halloween queen revealed that the unique look was crafted by fashion designer Marina Hoermanseder from a custom mold of her body. **

“My dress is made by a German designer and her name is Marina Hoermanseder,” Klum told Reuters at the event last night. “So she basically does a mold of the body. It’s leather. And then she sprays it and color matches it as close to my skin as possible so it looks, like, nude.”

While it may be a perfect fit for her body, Klum acknowledged that it’s difficult to sit in the leather garment, which features buckles down its sides. **

“I’ll be the one clapping and standing the entire time,” she teased. “Standing ovation all the way.”

In a joint Instagram post on Monday, Hoermanseder and Klum provided an inside look into how the dress came to life from its first sketches to its final flesh-colored form.

The crafting process started with Klum undergoing a 3D scan of her body, which was used as the basis for the bust. From there, leather was painstakingly heated and shaped to fit the mannequin, with strings holding it in place until it dried perfectly to fit the model's form.

The garment was then color-matched to Klum's skin tone before being sanded, sprayed, and then lacquered so that her body was literally shining. "Wow wow wow just wow," the post noted.

And, in case anyone was wondering, Klum later revealed that she didn’t wear the eye-catching look the *entire* evening. She shared a quick video on her Instagram Story that featured her happily eating a burger in a black dress as well.

Klum wasn't the only star who sported a nearly nude look at the Grammys last night. Chappell Roan also donned a sheer maroon Mugler dress that was draped across her body with faux nipple rings.
