Gabrielle Union knows her daughter Kaavia can achieve all her goals — whether that's on or off the field.
PEOPLE recently spoke to the actress, 53, about her partnership with Casamigos ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup when the proud mom shared one of her 7-year-old’s biggest achievements to date.
“I feel like Serena's youngest baby beat her, but for a long time, Kaav was the youngest owner in professional sports,” Union said, referring to Serena Williams, 44, and husband Alexis Ohanian’s daughters Olympia, 8, and Adira, 2, being co-owners of the Angel City Football Club and the Los Angeles Golf Club.

“[Kaavia] and I both invested in Angel City [FC],” Union explained. (She shares Kaavia with husband Dwyane Wade, and is also a bonus mom to Wade’s children from previous relationships: Zaire, 24, Zaya, 18, and Xavier, 12. Wade, the 44-year-old co-owner of the Utah Jazz, is also the legal guardian of his nephew, Dahveon Morris, 21.)
“She has her own investment with her own handlers,” Union, who played soccer for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, told PEOPLE. “But yes, she is a minority owner in Angel City Football Club, and she loves to go watch the girls play, because we get to be, like, right there. But I would love it if she played [soccer].”
Union's love of soccer goes back to when she was very little, and she hopes that Kaavia takes to the sport as well. "Me and my little sister who lives with us and helps us take care of my daughter, we grew up playing soccer year round,” she said. “We would love it.”
At the time of the interview, the Goat actress said Kaavia had already done two soccer camps during this school year alone, and already had a leg up when it comes to connections in the soccer world. “Sydney Leroux, she coaches her kids and they're around the same age,” Union told PEOPLE. “So it would be my dream if she played with Sydney's kids.”
The Being Mary Jane actress has made sure to get Kaavia familiar with the sport early on.
In a March 2021 Instagram clip, Union shared footage of herself and Wade playing a game of soccer with their youngest in a backyard on a sunny day.
