Dan Levy is reflecting on the loss of his "irreplaceable" TV mom.

The actor, 42, spoke about the death of his "Schitt's Creek" costar Catherine O'Hara during an appearance on "The Tonight Show" Tuesday, March 31.

"It's a collective loss, I think," Levy shared. "She was the greatest. She's irreplaceable. I think the great comfort, for me, has just been to see how loved she was. You know what I mean? The outpouring – everyone felt like they kind of knew her."

The "Big Mistakes" star also remembered how O'Hara was "unbelievably talented" at improvisation. "Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon shared his own admiration for the "Beetlejuice" actress, calling O'Hara "one of the funniest comedians I've ever seen."

For six seasons, O'Hara starred as Moira Rose, the eccentric mother to Levy's David Rose, on the Emmy-winning sitcom "Schitt's Creek," which followed a wealthy family forced to relocate to a small town after losing their fortune. Eugene Levy and Annie Murphy also starred on the show, which earned O'Hara an Emmy for best lead actress in a comedy series.

O'Hara was also known for her roles in films like "Home Alone" and "Beetlejuice" and shows like "The Studio." In March, she posthumously won an Actor Award for her performance in "The Studio," and her costar Seth Rogen paid tribute while accepting on her behalf.

"I obviously have been reflecting on the time I was fortunate enough to spend with her and working with her," Rogen said. "And something that I've just been marveling at over the last few weeks was really her ability to be generous and kind and gracious while never, ever minimizing her own talents and her own ability to contribute to the work that we were doing. She knew she could destroy and she wanted to destroy every day on set."

Levy previously honored O'Hara on Instagram in January, writing that it was a "gift to have gotten to dance in the warm glow of Catherine O'Hara's brilliance for all those years."

Levy's father and "Schitt's Creek" costar Eugene Levy, a longtime O'Hara friend and collaborator who worked with her on the Second City Television sketch series and in several films, also said in a statement shared with USA TODAY that "words seem inadequate to express the loss I feel today," adding that he "cherished our working relationship, but most of all our friendship. And I will miss her."
