Who knew a show about a high school rowing team could bring so much drama?

Netflix’s new YA series *Crew Girl* certainly wastes no time proving that life on — and off — the water is anything but smooth sailing. The show follows 16-year-old rowing prodigy Teagan Tao (Miku Martineau), who is forced to escape to a small town with her mother (Jessica ParĆ©) after her father’s financial fraud leaves them reeling. But when it’s revealed that Teagan’s new prestigious prep school doesn’t have a girls’ crew team, she’s forced to join the boys as coxswain if she wants to continue her training.

While steering a ship of eight boys proves to be anything but easy, Teagan’s love life gets even more complicated as she quickly finds herself embroiled in a love triangle, torn between the soft-spoken Cam (Kyle Clark) and arrogant stroke seat Josh Regis (Samuel Braun), whose family runs the town.

Between finding a new path to her dream, dealing with the fallout of her father’s mistakes, and figuring out where her heart truly lies, *Crew Girl *takes Teagan — and viewers — on a wild ride that culminates in more than one shocking cliffhanger.

Who does Teagan choose — Josh or Cam?

Teagan’s heart is undeniably torn throughout the season. She first sparks a romance with Cam after he almost runs her over with her truck — what a meet-cute! — and the pair tries to date. Cam’s stress over his finances and scholarship, however, prove to be too much for him, and he walks out on her at a dance. This happens just as Josh is breaking up with his girlfriend, Britney (Sage Linder), who accuses him of having feelings for Teagan.

Both single, Teagan and Josh try to keep things platonic, but quickly give in to their impulses (after Josh heroically saves her from drowning — swoon!). One makeout session turns into 10, and the two can’t keep their hands off each other, stealing kisses whenever possible.

That all ends when Teagan admits that she thinks Cam should be in stroke position over Josh because he puts the team first. Teagan tries to make amends, but Josh tells her she’s right; he’s selfish and ā€œnot a good person.ā€ He decrees that they shouldn’t be together, claiming that what they have is just a rebound romance.

Josh clearly doesn’t mean what he says, and his feelings for Teagan endure throughout the season. Due to his heart condition and complicated family issues, though, Josh decides to take care of himself first — not without promising Teagan that he’ll be back for a second chance after he’s figured things out.

While it seems like the season will end with Teagan waiting for Josh, Cam shows up at the boathouse in the finale’s final moments and kisses her. The two are interrupted before they can discuss what it all means.

So, who did Teagan choose? Cam, we guess, by default? But something says this love triangle is far from over, should the show be greenlit for season 2.

Is Josh okay?

Depends who you ask, but he would probably say no. After a season of hiding a heart condition from everyone, and a series of near-fatal health crises, Josh finally comes clean to his family. While his usually overbearing father is surprisingly supportive of Josh ending his rowing career, his grandfather is less than enthused, deeming him unfit as the heir to his legacy.

Josh’s mental health is also clearly suffering by season’s end, as the pressure from crew, his family’s company, and his health culminates in a dangerous drive that almost kills both him and Teagan.

Josh ends the season by telling Teagan he’s going off to take care of himself, in every way, but that he’ll return as the guy she deserves.

Josh, Cam, Ryder (Connor Patton), and Baloo (Jude Wilson) battle it out for the coveted crew position all season. And after everyone gets their chance to show what they can do, Cam lands the position for the final race.

After a season as coxswain on the boys’ team, *Crew Girl* season 1 ends with Teagan getting her wish: a girls’ crew team at Easton Prep, thanks to a generous donor. Her excitement is quickly thwarted, however, when it’s revealed the team will also consist of her nemesis, Britney, who is both Josh’s ex-girlfriend and a member of the family funding the new team.

As for Teagan’s future on the boys’ team, that remains to be revealed.

After an oar breaks during a big race, the team discovers that it was done intentionally. Everyone from Easton denies their involvement. Baloo though comes to the conclusion that his boyfriend, Logan (Tyler Roberge), who races for the opposing team of Westlake, must be the culprit, as the two hooked up in the boathouse minutes before the tournament began. His suspicions are seemingly confirmed when a security tape shows Logan leaving the building alone after Baloo.

It’s revealed in the penultimate episode, however, that Logan only left later than Baloo at the latter’s request. Logan swears he had nothing to do with the broken oar and says that prior to exiting, he saw Josh in the boathouse.

Baloo confronts Josh, who admits he’s the culprit, later telling Teagan that he did so because he was afraid of suffering a cardiac event mid-race. Josh later tells the rest of the team a half-truth: that he broke the oar, but only because he’d choked under pressure.

His cousin, Ryder, then tries to take stroke seat, but the team keeps Josh in the position. At the last minute, Josh gives the spot to Cam, who has been vying for the position all season. ā€œI’ll follow you,ā€ Josh tells his former rival.

(And don’t worry, Baloo and Logan also reunite, sharing a passionate post-race kiss!)

Does Easton Prep win the Haverford Cup?

Sadly, no, but that was actually never their goal! Due to the rowing season’s point system, Easton Prep is hoping for bronze, a goal they achieve in the final moments of the race.

Does Teagan’s dad come back?

Teagan’s father (Byron Lawson), who has been on the run from the FBI after a fraud scandal, returns to his family with a USB port, which he claims can fix everything. Despite him insisting the port can set Teagan and her mother up financially, for good, Teagan refuses the money and tells him to go. Though her dad sticks around to watch her compete in the final regatta, the FBI eventually sees him. Teagan’s dad is taken away in handcuffs, but only after giving his daughter a hug goodbye.
