The Indianapolis Colts have brought back a familiar face at cornerback on Tuesday.

One day after waiving Johnathan Edwards from the 53-man roster, the Colts announced that they signed the second-year cornerback to the practice squad after he cleared waivers.

To make room for Edwards on the practice squad, the Colts released cornerback Robert Carter Jr.

The Colts signed Edwards as a UDFA after the 2025 NFL draft. He made the Colts' 53-man roster as a rookie and appeared in 14 games, which included five starts.

Edwards flashed his upside and potential here and there, but he was also quite inconsistent as well.

Helping Edwards initially stick on the roster was his ability to help on special teams. However, against the Ravens, he was inactive.
