Brian Cox is back, playing another looming New Yorker.

Paramount+ announced on April 2 that the *Succession** *actor is returning to television, scoring his first major role since portraying the cantankerous patriarch Logan Roy. Cox is joining the season 2 cast of *Dexter: Resurrection** *as The New York Ripper.

Per a press release, the character is a "serial killer who terrorized the City years ago... Though no longer active as a killer, he’s found a new way to live into his infamy by continuing to taunt the survivors of his long-ago murder spree."

In the season 1 finale, Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) found the identity of The New York Ripper on a folder belonging to the villain du jour, Peter Dinklage's Leon Prater. Reading “Don Frampt, New York Ripper," the folder set up the second season. And now fans finally have a face to go with the name.

Plot details for the second season of the *Dexter *spinoff have yet to be revealed. Paramount+ announced that the show was renewed in October, weeks after the season 1 finale aired.

Cox is an Emmy, Olivier, and Golden Globe award–winning actor, best known most recently for his role as Logan Roy on *Succession. *The role earned him a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama Series in 2020. The Scottish actor also won a Primetime Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series for his appearance as Hermann Goering in *Nuremberg*.

*Succession* aired for four seasons on HBO, following the Roy family's *King Lear*-esque, slow-burn implosion, and focusing on who would ultimately gain control of media company Waystar Royco (and spoiler: it was not the eldest boy).

Cox told *** *in 2024 that *Succession *ended "at the right time." "It's always good to leave people wanting, so that people want more, rather than satiate them, so we get out at the right point, and that's what we did on the show, and I think that's what makes the show the success it is."
