Alan Ritchson, who leads the cast of the action thriller Motor City, has addressed reports of an alleged violent incident involving his neighbor for the first time. The Reacher star revealed it’s the scariest thing he’s ever been through.

Alan Ritchson finally shared what sparked his widely discussed confrontation with a neighbor

TMZ footage showed Ritchson involved in a physical altercation with Ronnie Taylor in Tennessee on March 21. Police later ruled that Ritchson acted in self-defense and chose not to pursue charges against Taylor.

The 43-year-old star opened up during an appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast with co-hosts Dax Shepard and Monica Padman. He said, as stated by EW, “It was the scariest thing I’ve ever been through. I don’t like that kind of conflict. I like to work. I don’t like things that are ill gotten. I don’t like bad press.”

The actor said the situation was misunderstood without full context, adding that his body-cam footage showed what happened and helped avoid an arrest. He said he acquired the rights to MotoGP because of his passion for motorcycles, adding that he hopes to create a high-octane franchise similar to Fast & Furious. Ritchson claimed the bike he was riding that day was brand new, noting that it was also “exceptionally loud.”

“I’ve never met that guy ever in my life. Never seen him before. He lied to TMZ about us. He wasn’t even there when we went up his street.” Ritchson said he and his family often engage in similar activities around their neighborhood, where residents sometimes stop and watch because of his celebrity status. He added that he did not expect the situation to escalate, saying things “got weird” when Taylor stepped in front of him.

The actor recollected, “I wasn’t going fast, and it’s loud. So, I can understand how somebody who doesn’t know what’s going on might be like, ‘It’s so loud. He’s racing through the neighborhood.’ I get myself together. He starts coming at me pretty aggressively. I push him down.”

Ritchson alleged that he smelled alcohol during the altercation and said he reacted out of concern for his safety and that of his children. He said he struck Taylor to get him away from the situation. “My kids had to experience that. This was really hard on me. That guy doesn’t know how much — my kids won’t ride with me anymore. He robbed me of that, man. F**k that,” he expressed.

According to People, Ritchson is married to Catherine Ritchson, and the couple shares three sons: Calem, Edan, and Amory. Ritchson, best known for playing Jack Reacher, will return as the lead character in Season 4 of Prime Video’s hit action series, premiering August 12.
