Awards shows can turn into family affairs when stars bring their parents as their dates.

Actors including Leonardo DiCaprio and Bradley Cooper have been accompanied multiple times by their mothers to awards shows and red carpets, while both of Glen Powell’s parents make regular appearances supporting their son.

Meanwhile, 2024 was a big awards season for Charles Melton, who received several nominations for his role in May December. He often brought his mom Sukyong Melton as his date, including the 2024 Golden Globes in January of that year.

“Who wouldn’t want their mom to be with them?” he told PEOPLE the following month about bringing his mom along for awards season. “She’ll always tell me, no matter how old I get, I’m always going to be her baby Charles: ‘I don’t care if you have a house, and you’re paying bills, and you have kids, you’ll always be my baby.’ ”
